Hayley had two heart operations. She had a shunt put in when she was nine weeks old and open heart surgery shortly after her first birthday.
Hayley was recovering well on the ward. The family were excited about flying Hayley back home.
Hayley’s lung collapsed and she suffered a cardiac arrest. The medical staff failed to detect obvious signs of clinical deterioration. The family begged and pleaded for 5 days that something was seriously wrong but the staff didn’t listen. Hayley’s Granny kept saying “her lungs her lungs I’m embarrassed asking about her lungs.”
