WHAT DID I LEARN AFTER HAYLEY DIED?

70% of all adverse events in hospital are directly related to BREAKDOWNS IN COMMUNICATION. Toxic Egos Kill – Doctors who don’t listen to the family are dangerous..

HOW CAN YOU PROTECT YOUR FAMILY?

  • Trust your gut instinct
  • Speak up for your child
  • Don’t allow yourself to be fobbed off or bullied by medical caregivers who don’t care.

LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES

I wish I hadn’t of trusted the doctors and nurses at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. “I watched my only child die in front of my eyes after begging and pleading for 5 days that something was terribly wrong with Hayley.” I told everyone my child has been over-looked neglected and is suffering after her lung collapsed. They all ignored me until she suffered her cardiac arrest. I held her hand while doctors frantically performed CPR. They failed to administer all of Hayley’s pain relief and life saving medication because her IV line wasn’t working properly. The drugs kept spraying over my face. I had asked 2 nurses and the junior sister the day before she died to fix it but nobody listened, nobody cared.

WHY DID NOBODY HELP HAYLEY?

The doctors perceived the family as “over-concerned” and this “swayed” their care for Hayley. The doctors thought they knew best but we knew Hayley better and had they listened to us Hayley could still be alive today.
